Earth Day and Human Evolution: The Humbling of Humans Essay

The celebration of Earth Day marks a stage in the development of human global awareness and thus an important step, however small or tentative, in sustained human evolution. Earth Day is all about us, as a specie, trying to reconnect with the environment that has allowed us to evolve and continues to provides us with the spatial and material context within which we continuously learn and thus evolve further. Humans are but an animal Specie, albeit a privileged one for its sentience, in the so-called Spaceship Earth. Humans were â€Å"born† in the womb of this living spaceship with its potentially finite and changing resource base. Earth has provided the unique combination of elements and conditions for a sentient carbon-based life form to evolve from being a possibly simple bacteria-like existence, to become the dominant, earth ravaging specie proudly known to itself as Homo Sapiens. Part and product of the process of evolution is the creation of awareness and consciousness. Humans, as far as we know, are the only fully self-aware and conscious of all animals with his/her ability to conceptualize, think in abstractions, and even laugh at himself and his ways. This ability to think in abstract terms has led to the notion of celebrations and Earth Day is one such human creation. The designation and celebration an Earth Day marks the maturation of the human specie, in a manner of putting, as it suggests a global awareness of the specie’s need to survive given its exploding population and resource requirements. For the specie to evolve further, it must first address the more basic issue of survival. Survival in the world today means addressing global or earth-level concerns and the celebration of Earth Day is just one simple and humble way by which humans have been humbled by the Environment.

Homosexuality and the American Baptist Church

Homosexuality in the Baptist Church: Homosexuality is one of the most debated issues among Christians today, regardless of the denomination of their church. Some churches view homosexuality as a sin and have no tolerance for it, while other denominations are more accepting and consider it a non-sin. Even though some denominations have taken a stand on homosexuality, there seems to much discord within the governing bodies of the churches regarding this issue. It has moved from a topic rarely discussed and considered very personal and private, to a mainstream topic of conversation.Although there has been a growing acceptance among certain Christian denominations regarding homosexuals, the American Baptist Church has remained firm in its position towards homosexuality. The American Baptist Churches descended from the Northern Baptist Convention that was founded in 1907. The church has approximately 1. 5 million members and 5800 congregations that are scattered through 34 regions of the United States. The American Baptist Church members are following the century long traditions of soul freedom, which allows the independence of individual members of the church to form their own beliefs. They also support congregational freedom, which allows each church the autonomy to develop its own policies. In order to understand the position that the American Baptist Church takes on homosexuality, it is important to examine their general religious beliefs. According to a website of the First Baptist Church in Scituate, MA , they believe that salvation and eternal life are granted to all those who trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. They believe that both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are the divinely inspired word of God. The Bible is to be interpreted responsibly under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.Baptists hold the Scriptures and the Old and New Testaments as their final authority. This has become the basis for the viewpoint that the American Baptist Church ha s developed on the issue of homosexuality. The American Baptists also have some strong convictions about the type of person they are supposed to be. Again, according to the First Baptist Church website, these include a redeemed person that claims a personal relationship with God, a biblical person that seeks guidance in understanding the Scripture, and a worshipping person that shares an open and public confession of faith.American Baptists are also supposed to be a mission person that invites others to follow Christ and an inclusive person, who embraces different races, ethnicity, and genders, and also accepts that there are individual differences of conviction and theology. This inclusion also covers those who are from a variety of backgrounds and they are to find unity in diversity and diversity in unity. These convictions have become a source of division among some of the member churches within this denomination, as they are supposed to embrace and accept those with individual d ifferences, yet they are not accepting of homosexuals.According to the religious tolerance website, The American Baptist Church has been actively responding to issues pertaining to homosexuality as far back as 1987. In June of 1987, a statement of concern regarding homosexuality was defeated by church delegates at their Biennial Meeting. They decided that â€Å"Scriptures repeatedly depict homosexuality as a social and moral evil and the unrepentant homosexual has no claim to full acceptance in the Christian community. † So at that time, they decided that they just did not want to deal with the issue.Four years later, in June of 1991, the delegates of the Biennial Meeting were forced to deal with the topic of homosexuality again. They adopted a statement that rejected the homosexual lifestyle, homosexual marriage, ordination of homosexual clergy, and the establishment of gay churches and gay caucuses On the other hand, their statement also included that the church should love and minister to the homosexual, but condemn the sin of the practice of homosexuality. They were taking the stance of hate the sin, love the sinner. They also established a Commission on Human Sexuality Resources to provide clarification and guidance for a Christian understanding of God’s gift of sexuality. By June of 1992 the General Board of the American Baptist Church was being pressured by some of their member churches to accept the practice of homosexuality within their denomination. A resolution called â€Å"Homosexuality and the Church†, which identified Gods plan for the fulfillment of sexual union to be one man and one woman in heterosexual, monogamous, and lifelong marriage, was narrowly defeated. The resolution further stated that â€Å"the redeeming love of Christ† is available to practicing homosexuals as it is to all who turn to him in faith and repentance. Then a few months later, in October 1992, the General Board was again approached and was force d to vote regarding the issues of homosexuality in their church. They finally agreed to issue a one sentence standing that was called â€Å"American Baptist Resolution on Homosexuality†. The sentence briefly stated â€Å"We affirm that the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. This started the ball rolling and in June of 1993 the General Board next came up with another resolution that was called â€Å"American Baptist Resolution Calling for Dialogue on Human Sexuality†. That resolution states â€Å"that there exists a variety of understandings throughout our denomination on issues of human sexuality such as homosexuality† and encourages discussions regarding those particular issues. American Baptists were also encouraged to seek unity and avoid divisiveness. This resolution might as well have stated â€Å"there exists a variety of misunderstandings† and even though it encouraged discussions, their viewpoint was already establi shed. 1995 was an important year for the American Baptist Churches and their stand on homosexuals. In June 1995, the Granville Baptist Church in Granville, Ohio was expelled from the The Columbus Baptist Association because the church supported full participation of homosexuals. Then in September, the Pacific Southwest Region of the American Baptist Churches, which represented more the 300 churches, began defecting over the issue of homosexuality. The leaders of the region cited underlying issues regarding interpretation of the Scriptures and church discipline. As a result of the defection, The General Board of the American Baptist Churches created a commission â€Å"to find ways to deal constructively with issues around which there has been considerable disagreement. † In other words, they realized that the homosexuality issue was starting to destroy their denomination and they needed to get serious about resolving the problems. After various resolutions, committees, and amend ments over the next ten years, The General Board of the American Baptist Churches finally made some decisions in 2005. At that time they voted to amend their own document â€Å"We Are American Baptists† by adding a statement to the section â€Å"A Biblical People: Who submit to the teaching of Scripture that God’s design for sexual intimacy places it within the context of marriage between one man and one woman, and acknowledge that the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Biblical teaching. This represents their final stand on homosexuality, which is that they believe it is wrong and is not in line with the teachings of their church. Although every denomination believes in the Bible as their â€Å"guiding light†, they all interpret it in a different way and can put their own spin on different passages. The American Baptist Church relies on their interpretation of the Bible to support the position that they have taken on homosexuality. There are passag es in the Bible that are known as the â€Å"clobber passages†, because they are used to beat up homosexuals.Leviticus 18:22, 20:13 is a typical passage that is thought to support the anti-gay stance. It states â€Å"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination† (Leviticus 18:22). There is also an important passage in the New Testament that condemns homosexual behavior. â€Å"Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator.Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their own error. † (Romans 1:24-27). However, later on there is a passa ge about judging others, so therefore you should prepare to be judged – so it is really a contradiction to think that the passage is condemning homosexuals. The arguments that support homosexuality within Christianity are widespread. They include the fact that we are all God’s children and he created us the way he wanted. So if he made some people homosexual, then that was his choice and it should be accepted. The Bible does not really give any straightforward help in guiding Christians regarding the entire problem of homosexuality. It is up to each person to develop their own opinion based upon their knowledge, experiences, and influences of their chosen religion. The ongoing problem between homosexuality and Christianity will probably be around for a long time. ——————————————– [ 1 ]. Poetry appreciation “Fire the sun”

Basically the poem is divided into three parts. Each part identifies a specific task assigned to a woman. It is a very simple and straightforward poem, which does not beat around the bush. It is very easy to understand and candidly outlines the average woman's life, carrying out her daily duties. However in doing this, we get the impression that she seems to be giving up a part of herself – her senses become somewhat distorted. We are told of three certain tasks carried out by these women – doing the dishes, cleaning the floor and minding the children. The first stanza is dedicated to a woman doing the dishes. Every line is repeated as it says, â€Å"the woman doing the dishes has trouble hearing†. This could be due to the noise and clamour created by the dishes. The second stanza is dedicated to a woman cleaning the floor. This woman however cannot hear at all. A phrase is used: â€Å"Let us have a moment of silence For the woman who cleans the floor† which is usually used at funeral or memorial services when mourning the deceased. It is also ironic because this woman never has a moment of silence for herself in her busy life. This, together with the image of the woman always being on the floor, therefore low down gives us the impression that this woman is regarded as dead because like a dead person, she cannot hear at all. The third stanza is dedicated to a woman at home with the children. We are told that this woman is not seen at night as she is looking after the children. She also cannot speak up for herself or listen to what others think she might have said if she was there. In this poem, the women have been very stereotyped underlining their daily, tedious chores. An overwhelming impression of the lack of power of the woman is felt reading through the poem- she has the responsibility of a wife, a worker and mother and it is not in her strength to alter anything in the life that has been set for her. However there appears to be a deeper underlying meaning to the rather simple outlook of the poem. We get the impression that the woman always seems to be taken advantage of and has to put other things before her. She is like a puppet controlled and almost programmed to carry out menial tasks day in and day out. The first stanza emphasises this through the repetition stressing the monotony and routineness of the chores. It is also repetitive because we are told the woman has trouble hearing and things have to be repeated, as she doesn't understand the first time. The second woman cannot hear at all as she is continuously cleaning the floor and then the third woman is unable to speak for herself, as she never gets to go out at night and meet people. Great emphasis is put upon their sense of hearing – again the women are stereotyped in the way that the poet is saying, being a woman there is such intense concentration on a task that they become oblivious to other things around the m. It also ties in with the fact that they cannot also hear the voices of the husband which may be complaining; subsequently if women can't hear then they can't speak their minds. Open to interpretation could be whether the poem is about three different women each doing a specific chore, or about one woman who does all these jobs. FORM: There is no distinct form to this poem – there are three separate stanzas; in the first, every line is repeated twice. However the last two stanzas are written with no distinguishable rhyming scheme or any definite pattern. This poem is in the free verse form using simple language. This relates to the women in the poem who are also very simple. TONE: Keeping in mind that this poem, which differentiates chores for women and insinuates about their fixed way of life, is actually written by a woman. It could be looked at as the poet taking a general impression of most women or maybe even including her experiences in it, yet, if she was any of these women, she wouldn't have been able to write the poem. It might even be written in the persona of a man therefore bringing in the male factor; the opinion of a man on women. Nevertheless the tone, no matter how depressing, seems to be quite realistic, calm and assured. It is in a way pitying and sympathetic yet also submissive in that the poet seems to accept it as a fact of life that cannot be changed. The tone is aggressive in a gentle way, rather than attacking, for it states the facts as they stand using uncomplicated language, which is extremely effective as it hits one straight in the heart. IMAGERY: Although the language is very simple, certain images are evoked in our minds as we read the poem. The first image is created by the repetition in the first stanza. The image is of a woman at a sink, almost like a robot, washing one dish after another and drying them one by one. The monotony strikes us as being almost inhumane as it seems never-ending. Another image is created by the woman on ‘the floor' who ‘cannot hear at all' and is given a moment of silence. There is a strong image of death in this stanza as it seems that the woman is closer to her grave on the floor than to the people around her. It is as though she is dead to the world and therefore has to be mourned. As she is so out of reach, it could explain why she cannot hear at all. It also creates the image if not of being close to her grave then being low in society i.e. her body position reflecting her status in society. The third image is created by the 'empty space' mentioned in the last stanza that one has to stare into to imagine the woman who is in fact at home with the children. She has to be given an empty space, which creates a visual picture in which one cannot distinguish the separation between her and her kids as they are so much a part of her – the empty space is just as empty as she is. As ‘you never see her at night' we get the impression that she has no time for herself – the housework and children take up all her time. Although she may actually be able to hear, she is compelled not to because the image is created that the racket of the children overpowers her. Also, as she doesn't get to go out much, she cannot speak to defend herself or listen to other conversations. She might not be able to speak because she is uneducated and does not have the courage to defend herself. This night setting is realistic because at night men tend to go out more than women, especiall y at that time. As there are many aural images of hearing etc., aural devices have been used which play as sound effects i.e. assonance in the second stanza: ‘Another poem for a woman' This soft ‘o' sound can be tied to the image of death and graves which is noticeable in this stanza. Alliteration is also used in the third stanza: ‘One more poem for the woman at home' Again this is a fairly calm ‘m' sound which ties in with the whole tone of the poem. Deliberate use of these devices by the poet can be doubted for it is not a very elaborate poem and there are no other devices such as similes or metaphors- it is very basic. INTENTION I think the author's intention was to make people notice these jobs that women do, for although they are so obvious, no one acknowledges their importance. The woman are taken too much for granted for carrying out these chores and are not appreciated for what they do. It seems to contain greatly the male view and reflects the stereotype male attitude of a woman, emphasising where he sees her the most. she is always busy somewhere-washing, cleaning, looking after the kids etc, and she never really has time for him. Even at night when it is the time for the husband and wife to be together, she has more important things to tend to. This is a simple, heartrending poem which, due to its simplicity, allows deep thought.

Ethics of Euthanasia Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Ethics of Euthanasia - Essay Example This is because it defines the extent to which institutional leaders and the political class are trusted to act with the interest of the public. This trust defines the public expectations on its government. Therefore, the public form an attitude based on the values and expectations they have from their government. A government that operates without integrity will have its citizens have a negative attitude from it and as such decline their support for any programs intended by the government or even their policies will be suspected and feared. Additionally, Trust promotes development (Frederickson, & Ghere, 2013). This is because trust in the institutions is critical for the success of most government policies, programs and other regulations that the citizens should cooperate and comply with. Governments and institutional policies are thus supposed to be made in a process that is conducive to trust. The strength of the institutions is determined but the process of policy making and as such translates to the public trust in the governments. The public trust gives the government ease of policy making and enforcement because the public attitude is good about the government and it policies. Moreover, trust is very essential all for the key economic activities especially finance (Haggard, & Tiede, 2011). Trust will ensure an increased confidence of the investors as well as that of consumers. There is need for implementation of open government policies that involve partnerships with the private sector and even the civil societies. The increased investor confidence due to this openness will result in to good investments that would translate to the overall growth of the economy. Lack of integrity on the other hand will result in to the loss of public trust in the government and its institutions. This will scare away investors, consumers will not have the confidence in the same and this will result in stagnation of economic growth. Finally, the most important

Why the Eiffel Tower Should Not Be Torn Down Essay

Why the Eiffel Tower Should Not Be Torn Down - Essay Example It took 26 months, 700 engineering plans, 3,000 workshop drawings, and more than 18,000 parts to complete the construction. The Eiffel Tower has cultural importance. With respect to the event that it was built to commemorate, the French Revolution, the Tower holds cultural significance to the people of France. This is because the French Revolution was a time characterized with events aimed at eliminating dictatorship regimes (Eiffel Tower, n.d). Therefore, the Tower indicates a desire for hope as well as freedom. It also signifies the passage from an oppressive time to a hopeful one for the people of Paris (McDowall, 2014). This is a key point that shows a historical significance linked to the Eiffel Tower. People should read about and visit the Eiffel Tower because of its uniqueness with respect to design and cultural uniqueness. It displays the culture of the people of Paris and visiting the site allows a person to experience this culture. In addition, the design of the Eiffel Tower is unique and no other replica has managed to accomplish its features. People should read about it especially in history so as to understand why it was built and what it symbolizes. One of the key reasons as to why the Eiffel Tower is special is that it is the world’s most visited monument. Although there are other monuments of interest around the world, the Eiffel Tower has been the center of interest because it receives more tourists than any other monument. Besides being a monument, it has economic significance to Paris in that it incorporates hotels. The other reason as mentioned earlier is that it marks the end of an oppressive era, which was marked through the French Revolution; therefore, it is special to the people of Paris. Furthermore, the Eiffel Tower is special because it is one of the tallest buildings in the world and remained the tallest for many decades. As a conclusive point, the Eiffel Tower should never be torn

Introdyction to psycological theories and issues Essay

Introdyction to psycological theories and issues - Essay Example According to this theory, the individual inherits all his behaviours due to the complex interaction of genes. Most of his characters and behaviours remain constant throughout his life, as outside environments do not affect his individuality in any way. His individuality is predetermined. From this standpoint, types and characteristics measured with personality are constant and even if we sharpen our wits, types and temperaments to some extent successfully, we can never change them. We do as our genes dictate. As Darwin’s theory was applied to this psychological theory, it also implies that our personality connects with the secondary theory of natural selection for survival of the fittest. Distinct personality and individual differences differentiate a person from the commonalities. One of the main personality theories, Nurture theory, connects with the Operant Conditioning of Thorndyke who talks about conditioning of man, dog or any other animal through conditioning or nurture. Every situation that is connected with the nurturing of a child till it grows up and even later as an adult produces a positive or negative reinforcement of the behaviour in the individual. Nurture theory says that every behaviour depends upon the atmosphere, circumstances, education, bringing up of a child, teachers, friends, well-wishers, neighbours, community, society, and the results of a person’s behaviour are all responsible for his personality. It argues that nature or genetics, or heredity have nothing to do with the personality of the individual. Here life becomes a saga of actions and reactions. Skinner applied this theory on the experiments like training an animal, through rewarding or punishing and assessing how the animal gets used to a certain behaviour, showing absolutely no signs of his hereditary behaviour, but adapting himself to an entirely new behaviour, a result of the present nurture. There is no doubt that nurture through education, training and

Knowledge of Organisational Behaviour Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Knowledge of Organisational Behaviour - Essay Example This understanding enables them to not only make sense of the behaviour they witness in their workforce, but also to predict it before hand and sometimes even influencing it to reflect the desired level. Thus, it is reasonable to assume that organizational behaviour teaches one how to control human behaviour in an organization. However, it may be unreasonable to label this practice as exploitative, since the control is limited to an organizational setting, and the results are aimed to improving organizational performance, rather than exploitative practice of this knowledge. Organizational behaviour teaches a manager how to analyze and handle several different dimensions of an organization. One of the relatively well-known areas of expertise is the substantial and extensive knowledge of motivation that organizational behaviour has to offer. It offers dozens of theories on motivation, each tailored to specific situations as well as different findings in this area. These range from the classic theories such as Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory to the more controversial, contemporary theories such as Theory X and Y (Thompson and McHugh, 2002, pp. 10-48). Each of these motivational theories offers a unique insight into an employee’s mind, helping one understand what drives these employees to put effort into their work and then teaching one how to use these teachings to influence employees to exhibit desired behaviour. On the surface, it may seem like a euphemism for ‘manipulation techniques’ that teach a manager how to exploit a person’s predictability and use it to their organization’s advantage. However, the intentions behind organizational behaviour practices should be kept in sight before drawing such evaluations. Discussion Considering an organization with a de-motivated workforce may help one understand the ethical validation of this discipline. Such an organization would have paid employees who have each been designat ed specific tasks, each of which contribute to the organization’s performance and success. This is common amongst organizations that combine technology, creativity, and innovation in their operations. If the employees of such an organization lack motivation, their performance levels will be low, and predictably below the needed levels (Rashid, 2003, pp. 30-55). This would lead to failure of the organization, which could have several detrimental results, which could lead to employees losing their jobs and putting them at as much loss the organization. Thus, teaching a manager to remedy such a problem in a manner, which is beneficial for both the employee and the organization, is not exploitative. Furthermore, these theories do not try to manipulate an employee psychologically on a subconscious level. They do not aim to take advantage of the employee without realizing it, but rather offer this motivation at a conscious level, the influence of which is visible to the employees t hemselves. Other than Pavlov’s Classical Conditioning theory, most of the motivational theories operate on a conscious level and depend on the employees consciously reacting to the situation they are presented with (Huczynski and Buchanan, pp. 5-25). For example, bonus schemes are one of the most commonly used motivational techniques in a workplace. They offer the employee monetary and other similar forms of extra compensation for efficient and

Week 6 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Week 6 - Essay Example The next is Team / Shared leadership. It is important top put others first and value the input of those around you. You must constantly seek their input and let them know that you value their contributions. As Bandura points out, â€Å"...belief in their capabilities to master activities affects their aspirations, their level of interest in activities, and their accomplishments† (1994. p.130). A leader must also be Ethical and Honest, to be as upfront and straight forward as possible while acting in a professional manner. This is one of the most critical areas where one must lead by example. The next characteristic is Visionary Leadership. This often requires a leap out of the leader and perhaps the team’s comfort zone. In order to progress and grow, I this dynamic ever-changing environment, change is a necessity. But change, good or bad, is always difficult to implement This requires someone with vision that can also share that vision with others as well as the passion to complete it. This leads to the final characteristic of Influencer. Being able not only to share facts and communicate directive, but charging the task with emotional content is perhaps the most important aspect of a leader for the future. Gone are the days of work being its own reward, staff today need to feel empowered and part of the process both intellectually and emotionally. As Goldberg states, "Process your learning continually. Be open to amazement" (2001, p. 58). Keeping an open mind and continually learning and developing are both the secrets to not only good teaching and leaderships, but to a great life as well. In the past, a paradigm shift occurred when the industrial revolution created thousands of jobs and new technologies evolved for mass production. Then another shift occurred when the economy moved from produced goods to services and this is the present day situation. So now the future

Anna in the tropics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Anna in the tropics - Essay Example This was the only form of entertainment for the cigar factory workers of the time. So, I expected this play to portray the dilemma of the time when factory owners were faced by the choice of switching to modernization or carrying on their traditions. Apart from this, I expected it to have a tinge of romance in this which was enhanced by the presence of conflict and then its resolution. The play, Anna in the Tropics, revolves around a Cuban family that settles in Tampa, Florida and sets up a cigar business in the city. The factory owner, Santiago and his wife Ofelia have two daughters named Conchita and Marela who also work in their family cigar warehouse rolling cigars. A new lector comes into the factory named Juan Julian who reads the exciting Russian story of Anna Karenina. Marela, who wants to experience life outside the factory and Conchita who does not seem to be having a happy married life with her husband, Palomo, are very intrigued by the story of Anna Karenina. Santiagoâ₠¬â„¢s brother, Cheche, on the other hand, despises lectors due to a previous event where his wife ran off a previous lector and therefore wants to remove the lector and bring modern machineries to aid the rolling of cigars. My favorite characters include Marela, Cheche, and Juan Julian. In the first Act, Marela characterizes a very comic and humorous character with slightly immature thoughts. She feels restricted within the boundaries of her family cigar warehouse and wants to enjoy life outside of the factory. She is dumbstruck when she sees Juan Julian when she was waiting for him with her mother and sister. Marela is very influenced by the story of Anna Karenina narrated by Juan Julian. I feel that Marela is child-like initially and wants to live life more than just rolling cigars at her father’s factory. I can Marela’s feelings because being in the factory all the time with only a lector’s story to entertain can be boring particularly for a merry girl like M arela, who wants to enjoy her life. Cheche, Santiago’s half brother does not seem to like Juan Julian which results from his past experience where the lector ran with his wife. Even Juan Julian finds out when he first meets Cheche but I believe Cheche’s feelings are natural having his wife run off with a previous lector. Perhaps the most interesting character is that of Juan Julian, the lector who has been hired by Ofelia as a lector to entertain the cigar workers. Julian’s character becomes more compelling when he narrates the story of Anna Karenina which interests both Marela and Conchita equally. The play repeatedly tries to emphasize on the theme of tradition and change, problems and resolution, and love. Although it is apparent that Cheche already despises lectors due to his bitter past experience his dislike is added by the fact that he wants to introduce modern machinery to aid the factory workers in making cigars. As he aims to bring new machines into th e warehouse he threatens the existence of old Cuban traditions of having a lector and workers roll cigars with their hands. And Conchita who is having a troubled marriage with her husband who is having an affair. Conchita feels influenced by Julian’s story of Anna Karenina and to some extent with Juan Julian. Music and lighting has been one of the most important elements of the play enhancing its theme and effect. Every scene in the Act was followed by music inspired by Cuban music. This helped the

Graduate Reflection Paper 3(a) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Graduate Reflection Paper 3(a) - Essay Example Many employees will come from the neighborhood but many managers will be brought into the community from other areas. When so many people come together, they bring with them their attitudes, their insecurities and often their personal problems. Sometimes the manager helps an employee get to a counselor or find other resources in the community that they may need to continue in the organization. Managers must be cognizant of the fact that internally, they are the ones who set the climate and create a positive or negative experience for their employees. The organizations have changed drastically over the last thirty or forty years. As an example, organizations now deal with a wider diversity of employees that can include different ethnicities, religions and disabilities. Gays, lesbians and transgendered employees have specific needs, some of which have become controversial and each all employees bring their skills and abilities to the workplace. Effective leaders must understand how to work with all these team members and help them work with each other. This action creates one of the many functions of management. There are several models that are important to organizational change. The conventional model suggests that an individuals perception is based on the knowledge and information they receive (Rouse, 1998). This can be one of the reasons why employee behavior can be so different and why managers must be sure to understand who their people are and how to make them into a team. Abraham Maslows Hierarchy of Needs is another model for leadership. Most people are familiar with the hierarchy and managers must understand that their employees may be at any level of need at any given time. The manager must be aware of resources in the organization and outside the organization that can assist employees. They must also build a relationship with employees that

Expected Frequency even in dessert Research Paper

Expected Frequency even in dessert - Research Paper Example It has also been observed that families with children have higher rates of consumption as compared to those without children. Various flavors of ice cream are found in the market today and these include chocolate, vanilla, cookie dough/ cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, butter pecan/ Swiss almond, strawberry, peanut butter, coffee, cherry vanilla and peach, among many others. According to a Harris Interactive poll conducted in 2013, chocolate and vanilla are the favorite flavors followed by cookie dough/cookies and cream. In terms of gender, a disparity exists in favorite flavor: for women, almost a third prefers chocolate flavor followed by mint chocolate chip and cookie dough/cookies and cream. However, for men, vanilla tops the list of favorite flavors followed by chocolate and cookie dough/cookies and cream. The dynamics of ice cream and frozen desserts consumption does not end with demographics and flavor, how the consumers actually eat their ice cream also varies from one group to another. Methods of consumption include eating it form a cup, cone, sundae, sandwich and others, including eating it as a topping on a cake. Disparities exist here too. It has been hypothesized that a relationship exists between gender and how they eat ice cream. For instance, according the aforementioned Harris Interactive poll, more men than women prefer eating ice cream in cups while more women than men prefer cone. This influence of gender on how a person eats their ice cream has not been well researched and this is the motivation for this research. The paper aims to investigate whether gender and ways of eating ice cream and other frozen foods are related, or whether the choice is independent of gender. For this study, data will be collected from students on how they eat their ice cream. Accordingly, data was collected from a sample of 40 students. To ensure that the data is not biased, efforts were be made so that the

The election of Federico Peña Essay Example for Free

The election of Federico Peà ±a Essay Both the election of Federico Peà ±a as Denver City Mayor in 1983 and the campaign of Victor Morales for US Senate in 1996 were considered as historic firsts: Peà ±a was among the first Hispanics to be elected as mayor of a major US city; while it was also the first time that the senatorial candidate of a major political party in Texas was of Hispanic origin, in the case of Morales. Apparently, these two cases have given renewed interest on the study of participation of minorities in a pluralist democracy, such as in this case, the Hispanics in the US electoral exercises. Not only that Hispanics seldom ran for elected office, it was also the general observation that they were less politically active and were also reluctant to exercise their rights to vote as seen in the pattern of low voter turnouts across the US.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   However, the case of Peà ±a was historic not only because it was the first time that Denver had a Mexican American mayor, but also because of the record turnout in 1983. Peà ±a, as well as Morales, actively attempted to increase minority, particularly Hispanic voter turnout. To his credit, the high turnout which favored Peà ±a’s campaign did not consist solely of Mexican Americans, because he was able to build a liberal coalition of minorities which did not only include the ethnic and racial minorities but also cut across different socio-economic classes and interest groups. Morales, on the other hand relied heavily on the large Hispanic population in Texas. Even if the Morales campaign was able to encourage Hispanics to register – also at a record-high – only 45.4% of the registered Hispanic voters actually voted. Morales’ failure to lure more Hispanics to vote, compounded by his lack of appeal to the Anglo voters due to his disparaging racial remarks, resulted in his loss, albeit with a slim margin, to the incumbent re-electionist senator. On his part, Peà ±a was able to avoid a campaign divided on racial lines because his being active in Mexican American civic organizations and his stint as a legislator helped him project support to minority concerns without necessarily delving on racial issues.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   As such, experience had increased the quality of Peà ±a as a candidate, in contrast to Morales. Peà ±a is a lawyer and was a member of the state House of Representatives before he ran for the mayoralty race; while Morales, who is a public school teacher, only had his formal political experience when he became city councilman and a Democratic Party precinct chairman. Political experience had also tremendous impact on their organizational and coalition-building skills. Although they both operated their campaigns on relatively limited funds, Peà ±a in 1983, was able to use his strong ties with the labor sector, neighborhood organizations, environmentalists, young professionals and other sectors, and was able to come-up with a dynamic, well-organized campaign supported by endorsements of important societal groups, his clear positions on issues, and a large number of able volunteers. Wide knowledge on different issues also worked to Peà ±a’s advantage; while the lack of it had been a discredit to Morales, especially as it was also one of the reasons why he was not able to establish sustainable rapport with the free media. Moreover, Morales had not been a member of any local Mexican American organization which could have provided him with the necessary grassroots or volunteer support and fund-raising skills. Morales even shunned the Hispanic political elites when he missed a meeting of state Hispanic elected officials a very influential group who could have given him all-out support only because he is Hispanic. Morales also had poor organizational skills as his campaign was described to be supported by inexperienced and underfinanced staff that could not even return calls or answer simple questions about their candidate’s campaign, mainly due to insistence of Morales to decide on almost every matter. The lack of funds had also wasted a lot of campaign time for Morales who insisted on traveling in his truck instead of by plane to his campaign appearances in different locations in Texas. This and his reliance on volunteers, made him resort to the inexpensive but time- and energy-consuming â€Å"block walking† in his campaigns. The ordeal of walking or traveling on truck around a large US State, however, was not present in Peà ±a’s bid for city mayor; although like Morales, Peà ±a also preferred open and face-to-face interaction, as in the latter’s â€Å"town meetings†, which he often held when he was elected as mayor of Denver City. Morales’ difficulty in funding could also be attributed to his fund-raising principles. For one, he did not accept contributions from business political action committees or entities associated with the tobacco companies. He also believed that his amazing win in the Democratic primaries, wherein he spent only $15,000, would carry him through the state elections. He also probably expected the Democratic Party to fund his campaign, which in turn, did not support him because it did not believe that he stood a chance against the incumbent Senator who had been in the position for 12 years and was supported by a campaign machinery that was at least six times bigger than his. Morales should have accepted the importance of money in a state-wide campaign and realized that he could not run a city campaign headquarters with just $200 (his monthly budget allocation for his Houston office). Lastly, even if the Democratic Party did not support Morales’ campaign financially, his nomination helped him obtain the Democratic votes, which contributed to his close bid in the senatorial race, despite the apparent Republican character of the Texas state at that time. Denver’s mayoralty race in 1983, was however, nonpartisan because Peà ±a’s strong contenders were also democrats, His party membership only mattered in 1987 when he ran for re-election against a Republican candidate, to which he almost lost because many of his constituents were already disappointed for his failure to make Denver a â€Å"great city† after his first term, and because Peà ±a could not focus on specific minority concerns since he was constrained to form effective governing coalitions. Ironically, Morales’ campaign became a legacy not only because of his unquestioned status as an outsider in the political game, but also because he was overcame only by a slight majority even if he had to battle all the odds during his unusual campaign.

Advertising And Social Networking Sites Media Essay

Advertising And Social Networking Sites Media Essay Advertising is broadly defined as the non-personal communication of information usually paid for and usually persuasive in nature about products, services or ideas by identified sponsors through the various media.(Bovee, 1992) Upon dissection of this definition for clarity, it can be seen that the process and the industry of advertising is a one way flow of communication from a party that pays for the communication to the target audience, who are intended to be prompted by this mode of communication into becoming consumers. Social networking sites (SNS) are an emerging and almost increasingly indispensable trend in the present decade. The current trend of increasing use of cyber space has resulted in large number of people all over the world using e-mail SNS; this is not only because of the entertainment and connectivity that it allows, but also because of the ease of access and sharing of several types of data that is possible through these sites. The sharing might be updates regarding home, family, work, health, or of pictures, audio, and even links to other interesting websites on the Internet. The users of SNS are not restricted to youth alone; its popularity and advantages have resulted in several adult and older adult populations becoming as users of SNS as well. The popularity of SNS makes it an excellent and a natural choice as a platform for advertising to transcend to, simply because it has the attention of potential customer while they are relatively vulnerable to advertising methods. The users of SNS are there for entertainment and advertising in this arena is possibly not something they are expecting. It could be a boon and a bane for advertisers when the target audience are unaware of their presence being construed as potential customers for a product or service. The present study aims to demonstrate that social networking sites are increasingly being used as an advertising platform by users and advertisers, using a survey that analyzed the general populations opinions of the same. 1.2 Background information The form of online advertising that uses SNS as a platform has come to be known as social network advertising and the relationship between SNS as a platform for advertising and advertising as a concept have been investigated by few other researchers. These studies provide a comparative analysis of the success or failure of social network advertising to conventional media. There were studies that aimed at examining the relationship between the two variables of advertising and SNS, or establishing the validity of one over the other, or even analyzing the advantages of social network advertising for companies themselves. The relevance of this topic is vital as can be seen by the recently released B-to-B Marketing Leadership Study, which revealed that over two-thirds of B-to-B marketers intend to decrease spending on print advertising during the next two to three years. The study was conducted jointly by American Business Media, the Association of National Advertisers, and consulting firm Booz Co., The study also found that 67 percent of B-to-B marketers intend to increase spending on social media during the same period, and that 64 percent said that they planned to increase digital spending. The 2010 Social Media Marketing Industry Report on the use of social media to market the businesses revealed that companies with enough manpower for marketing or those that arent computer literate may not be interested in social media but many service providers like electrical contractors and electricians may find that an optimized website is adequate for marketing, while companies that are willing to spend time and advertising budget could benefit greatly from social media as it may offer a venue to address criticisms and correct misconceptions of customers regarding products or services. 1.3 Concept of Social Media Marketing Finding a universally accepted definition of social media marketing may not prove to be extremely hard, but the industry and the field have not progressed to such a degree that there is a popular accepted definition for social media marketing and advertising. However, several definitions for the same have been hazarded. It is simplistically the use of SNS in online advertising. There are three major classifications of SNS based advertising; however, these are not properly defined and broad: direct advertising that is based on your network of friends, direct advertising placed on your social networking site, and indirect advertising by creating groups or pages. There are no well-defined indicators to measure the success of social media marketing, but one factor has a lot of weight in deciding the fate of social media marketing and advertising: finance. With regard to finance, the concept of Return On Investment (ROI) is an indicator that is commonly used to measure the financial successes of social media marketing and advertising in terms of cost reduction and consequent increases in margin. Ryan Deutsch defines ROI as one of several commonly used tools to evaluate the the financial consequences of business investments, decisions, or actions. Most forms of ROI analysis compare investment returns and costs by constructing a ratio, or percentage. There are few case studies on the monetization through SNS, which precludes the presence of studies on advertising in SNS. To date, ROI is the most popular indicator along with Key Popular Indicators (KPI), and the Lead Generation Funnel. KPI has three components to track: expanded reach to new audiences, influencer sharing behaviour, and conversions and monetization. Nicole Kelly elaborates that exposure, influence, engagement, action/convert are the key items in the Lead Generation Funnel model. 1.4 The Relationship There is no doubt that social media and advertising are a power combo, combining entertainment with marketing, and convenience with advertising. This phenomenon extends to the larger picture of advertisement on the whole. SNS have gone the extra mile to monetize on their services through advertisers that they have sometimes compromised on the privacy of the users. These other negatives issues are being addressed but still in nascent stage Facebook Places was one such option in the SNS Facebook, which allowed organizations to track the whereabouts of users, therefore pitching the demographic- and ethnic-appropriate products and services. This is an example of a negative aspect of monetization of what was previously just entertainment. It is not correct to place blame entirely on the owners of SNS either, as their endeavours in providing an online socializing experience for users has to be monetarily sensible as well. These issues aside, the breaches in privacy and the consequent outcry only proves the magnitude of scope and potential available for monetization through SNS, and advertising is one of the primary paths to such a monetization. 1.5 The Relationship: Indianised A look at the present scenario of the literature available about the relationship does not reveal much. A global perspective of the same has limited literature on it as it is an emerging field for study and a budding opportunity for the market. The scope of advertising through SNS in India is perhaps not as effective as it might be abroad as the number of Internet users in comparison to the countrys population as a whole is still not very significant, but never the less growing at a rapid pace. However, there is a potential for huge financial stake is involved, in terms of cost reduction, increase in demand for product service to vast majority of potential customers to be tapped at a quicker pace the addition revenue generation and earning opportunity for many, especially when the Indian-based ads cater to the global market. This study has obtained the opinions of Indians on the subject of advertising as a prospect for them; however, it need not necessarily reflect the choice of Indians as a whole, or even for the city of Bangalore. It is however, a window into the ideas and desires of the modern urban youth with regard to advertising in SNS. If the attitudes of the youth from a country regarding advertising and marketing through SNS, that is only just shedding its Third World status is favourable, the attitudes and beliefs of the youth from developed countries with higher cash flow through the Internet will be predictably phenomenal. The purpose is to look at global prospects in advertising and marketing through SNS, even while taking into account the possibility of the same in the Indian context and demographic. 1.5.1 Hypothesis The existing literature suggests the need for a study based in India. In this regard, the following hypothesis is developed, analyzing the opinions and attitudes of persons in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. . This could be supplemented by similar studies in other urban centres, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad Pune. The youth favour and endorse advertisements in social networking sites 1.5.2 Data Treatment Taking the case of 10 subjects from Bangalore, Karnataka, India, the opinions and attitudes toward advertising and marketing through SNS was analyzed. The data were administered through a Likert Scale type of survey, developed specifically for the present study. The study uses the tabulated and interpreted variant of this data to draw conclusions that support and disprove the aforementioned hypothesis. The scale measures four aspects of the respondents opinions: personal belief regarding marketing and advertising in SNS, use of SNS for another party/person, individual purchase as a result of ads in SNS, and belief in the impact of SNS. The data are separately and generally analyzed. 1.6 Justification for the study An indigenous and localised study is important to understand the nuances of a grass root level picture, even though in a cosmopolitan city like Bangalore, there could still be further sub groups in terms of ethnic back ground, culture, personal preferences. The data reveals the opinions of urban youth in Southern India. The field of social media marketing is burgeoning globally, though not at the same pace in the national context. It is therefore important to record the opinions and attitudes of Indians regarding the issue under consideration which might act as a window to the receptivity of the country to a globally popular concept Thus, it should be noted that components of study that are determined by various socio-cultural and economic and literacy patterns, determine the extent of development when they work in liaison. 1.7 Chapter Plan To explore and evaluate the beliefs and opinions of South Indians on the issue of advertising and marketing through SNS the study is divided in five chapters. Chapter one gives a brief insight about the study bringing forth the need for the study to be conducted while tracing evidences of background information. Chapter two elaborates on the previous studies and findings. Chapter three describes the methodology and the treatment given to the data collected and the statistical methods adopted for analysing the data collected. Chapter four gives a detailed account of the behaviour of the data by presenting the findings of the study and illustrates the relationship between the variables. The data, in this section, is treated with statistical analysis and the results are interpreted thereof. Chapter five summarises the key findings and draws theoretical and policy implications. This chapter also suggests avenues of further research in the area including privacy legal issues Patent, and intellectual property rights related issues. 1.8 Key Findings of the Study For the formulated hypothesis that the youth favour and endorse advertisements in SNS, the study findings and analysis of the data during the study validates the hypothesis with exceptions. 1.9 Conclusion The beliefs of youth and Internet users in general, with regard to the hypothesis that they encourage and believe in advertisements from SNS, as interpreted from this study that used the Likert Scale, with the sample size of 10, is valid.

New Business Report On Nail Salon

New Business Report On Nail Salon In October 2004, Nails magazine conduct a survey and learnt that 87% of women have had their nails done at a salon (2). Because todays fashion regards professional nail care services increasingly important. However, this billion pound industry can be influenced by changing in politics and economic. The report will show how important it is for business to react with the change of environment. This report is not only an environmental analysis that supports the nail salon but also a financial plan to help the prospect of opening Nicer Nail Salon. Product service: 2.1 Target customer: female over 16 year olds. According to the Nail magazine, nail salon patrons begins their habit early. 55% were under 25s when they first starting having their nails done professionally (1). Moreover, result from 2010 Survey of Hours and Earnings show Women salary is highest in the age group within 30-39 (12). On the other hand, nails art parties are on the rise in popularity, particularly for hen nights and teenage parties. Therefore, the need to offer an array of services to attract clienteles of all different age and income groups is necessary. For example, high-end clients are looking to be pampered. Although we cannot ignore the segment of customers, who would still want to have their nails done, dont want to spend out of their comfort areas. Services: Principally, the salon will generate revenues from the direct nail technician services. A nail technician provides painting, nail filing, manicure, pedicure and artificial nails services including acrylics, airbrush nails and nail jewelry. The most popular new foot service which is gel toenails also be provided. To a lesser extent, the salon generates revenue from sale of nail care and hand cream products. Furthermore, a deluxe service involves playing around with colored gels and dabbling in 3-D art will also be offered. This is a high profile area and easy access from all parts of the town. It is also very convenience for clienteles to locate our salon. A creative and innovative fashion always applies to generate very high levels of customer satisfaction. Providing customers with the option of booking appointments and consultations online. 3.0 The Business environment (PESTLE analysis): Like any other business, the Nail salon has to act and react to external factors influences it. Since markets are changing all the time. Customer develops new needs and wants, new competitors enter a market, new technology means that new product can be made. Government introduces new legislation e.g. increase minimum wage means that the disposable income increase it may lead to higher level professional service. Therefore, it is essential to know the influence of external factors include political, economical, socio-cultural, technological, legal and ethical environment is (13). The political environment: is one of the most important factors affecting the operation of a business. It is part of the macro-environment which is external to an organisation and completely beyond its control. The effect of political on business in general: Politic affect business in varieties of levels. Business is affected directly by tax policy; high tax rate will attract less investor (chart 8 in appendix1). Policies of government are very important. For example UK is the democratic country, people have full voting authority; they would be able to choose government that would work for the betterment of the country. It helps businesses to thrive because of the good policies of the government. In contrast, if there is no democracy, there is no respect for the chosen government. Instability and uncertainty in the country arise, government comes and goes and so will their respective decisions and policies. Business will suffer in such case as they do not know what will be their future. An example of instability political causes negatively influencing is the effects of anti-government protestors on hotel operators in Thailand in December 2008. Chart 9 (Appendix1) shows a loss of room revenue during period of peak tourist season. It is clear that the political instability is negatively influences travelers decision making (7). Furthermore, a stable political situation will attract more and more investors from other nations. The effect of the political environment on nail salon: Tax policy: as a sole trader Nicer Nail salon owner has responsibility to pay for local business tax, VAT, corporation capital income tax for business and national insurance for employees. Because by doing so the government know the presence of the business. The conservative government recently announced a new austerity plan. It causes higher interest rates, more business failures, lead to shaper rise in unemployment, directly affect the bank and national disposable income. As a result, the salon revenue may reduce significantly. Economical environment : It is believed that the level of demand for nail treatments can change depending on consumers level of disposable income. Businesses are in areas hard-hit economically will suffer because people lost jobs they have to tighten their belts and take control of their spending habits. Since many people are of the opinion that having nails done is not a necessitate thing. As a service industry, many beauty salons are being hit severely. Retail Sale is another example of industry that suffers when the surrounding economy turns down. Chart 11 (appendix 1) shows a lot of retailers report losses and in fact go out of business. Fortunately, the economy in the UK is in fast recovery (Chart 5 appendix 1). Additionally, chart 6 (Appendix 1) show household expenditure and total employment rose (5). Increasing in disposable income means that people can spend on luxuries like nail treatments. Furthermore, The British Lifestyles report by research group Mintel found that in the last decade we have spent 50% more on trips to hairdressing and beauty salons. This proves that the beauty market increases continuously despite the fact that the economic market condition in the UK is still in recession. Regardless of the recession, there are still people who enjoy being pampered. It makes professional nail care is a business with many good advantages. Socio-cultural environment: Every business works in society and consequently is subject to a variety of social influences. These influences include demography, social class and culture (13). For example, result from 2010 Survey of Hours and Earnings (chart 10 appendix 1) show that median earning of female employees grew. Increasing number of career women trends developing a high maintenance notion towards beauty regimes. This is reflected in the increasing amount of nail bars and services available. Nicer Nail Salon is the place where hard working people can come to get away from their daily stresses and be truly spoilt, a place that had the look and feel of a posh city salon. Nail arts can be a fashion statement and express individual for young clienteles who follow the latest trends and styles with a desire to be fashionable. Other services such as ear piercing, facial, and waxing eyelashes treatments are also offered to attract new clients. On the other hand, UK population is ageing (chart 4 Appendix I), ageing population means that the need to provide for a wider age range of clients is essential. Nodaway, Women earn more they will spend more money to look good. Plus the influence of fashion and changes in attitude toward health make professional nail care become booming industry. Technological environment: Advances in technology can have a major impact on business success. For example, one of the easiest and quickest way to let high-end class clienteles know that the salon are dedicated to serving them with luxurious pampering is creating a website that speaks to their needs and wants. Since, today the internet has major influence on the way consumers research and purchase products. By registering the nail salon with online portals the potential customers can easily reach the salon website which provide company name and contact information with online directories. Furthermore, option of consultants online 24/7 shows the salon is dedicated to deliver professional service. Moreover, electric nail file, unlike manual tool, enables a nail technician to filling acrylic nails much easier since the areas that were once hard to reach when filing manually such as cuticle areas and undersides of nails are now easily accessible. The electric nail drill is a time saver; it allows the salon to serve more clients in a day and this should increase profit. In 2010, 19.2 million households had an Internet connection in the U.K. This represented 73 per cent of households and an increase of 0.9 million since 2009 (15) an enormous increase in the number of home computer. This makes internet becomes one of the best ways to advertise the salon. On the other hand, improvements in technology will reduce the costs of nails equipment and products for example nail varnishes, jewellery. This should increase salon revenue. The legal environment Health and safety is important when working as a nail technician. Health and safety legislation is part of criminal law. Failure to comply with the law has serious consequence for example if there is a severe risk to health and safety, the salon will be closed down until improvements have been made. The salon has to work within the legal and professional frameworks that set the standards for employment. The law demands that every place of work is a healthy and safe for clients, workers, and other visitors. For example, potentially hazardous substances like glues or acetones should be carefully handle. The salon must follow the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) (10). My salon also looks forward to Legal requirement such as accident insurance and safety disposable products. The salon will keep to the Health and Safety guidance produced by Habia for nail technicians (9). This involves controlling and minimizing skin exposure to nail products, disinfecting equipment for manicuring, cleaning and minimizing inhalation exposure to nail products A nail technician should provide a service with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable space of time and at a reasonable charge (The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982). The nail technician will commit a criminal offence if published misleading advertising that deceives another trader (The Business Protection from Misleading Regulations 2008). Hence, it is crucial to know about the laws. Ethnical environment: Methyl methacrylate (MMA) is a monomer used in nail enhancement application but it should not be used in the salon due to its dangerous effect such as blister and nail loss for natural nails or respiration problem and asthma for some people even though it is still legal to use in the UK. Acrylic contaminated materials should be sealed in a bag before disposal in the bin reducing the amount of chemicals in the air. Gauze pads, cotton wool etc. that have been soaked in chemical should be disposed of in a sealed bag. The intended legal entity for my company: The salon operates as sole trader. I have look and found that being a sole trader is the easiest way to start a small business like a nail spa. Accounting is much easier hence bills for accountants are lower. Plus no complicated paperwork is required. Importantly, decision can be make quickly and close contact can be kept with clients and employees. However, you have to make decisions and provide all finance by yourself. The business income is the owner income therefore it is harder to reduce tax bill. Registration and regulation: Nail technicians are required to register their business and apply for a license to trade. The licence is known as a special treatment licence. The fee to register will depend on each local authority. As a Sole Trader, the salon owner needs to register with Her Majestys Revenue and Custom (HMRC) as self-employed at the moment the business has started otherwise the financial penalty will be charged. Financial plan The startup capital of  £45,000 (appendix II for details) is required to use for the design, leasehold improvement, and equipment of the salon. There are many ways to raise finance for examples borrow from family, get a bank loan or from outside investors. I did research and found that the best way to raise capital for Nicer Nail Salon is borrowing from my parent because they provide with better terms than the bank or private loan guarantees. In order to have successful business with family an agreement letter (Appendix II for details) between me and my parent is necessary in case thing dont go as planned. This also helps to protect everyone from each other and eliminate all conversations that start with you never said that. This note emphasizes that my parent lend me  £45,000 as a debt loan rather than equity. The interest will be paid quarterly to my parent account. Borrowing from parent is better than borrowing from private loan guarantees as the limit time frame stems is much longer. Compare to bank term loans, the interest rate is also much lower. Conclusion: Based on the result from 2010 Survey of Hours and Earnings and British lifestyles I can conclude that Nicer Nail Salon is a necessary service nowadays. Owning a nail salon is promising as little start-up cost is needed and importantly, it is never out of season. , it will be a good start of going somewhere with nail business. The Apollo 11 Space Flight: Man Explores the Moon and Gains Perspectiv

The 1960's brought cultural transformation through outbreaks of violence and contention. The "Love and Peace" slogan led to a bloody fear of "War and Hate." It was an era of protest and revolt. The decade began with the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., escalated with the viciousness of Vietnam, and ended with the suspicion of Watergate. And somewhere in the terror of freedom, we saw two Americans walk on the moon. It was while staring at that crystalline sphere hovering above us that we pondered the scope of our opportunity. On that warm summer night it was a miracle of technology, a step into a new world, a celebrated triumph. We engaged in a political race to the moon against the Communists with a democratic pride that launched us to a new age of scientific exploration. They were footsteps that would be talked about for centuries bringing information that would influence us for decades. America's Race for the Moon Following the Atomic Bomb of World War II, the United States was a recognized "Superpower," the technological king of advancement. Through our new Elvis albums and poodle skirts, we were enjoying the satisfaction of being the "winning team." However, in 1957, our pride was pierced when news hit that Russia had successfully launched "Sputnik," the first artificial satellite to circle the earth. As President Kennedy said, "We are behind and will be for a period in the future" (Sullivan 142). We were no longer the superior champions we once were. The Soviet Union seemed unstoppable; by 1961 Russian Major Yuri Gagarin became the first man to orbit the earth in a spaceship. Less than two months later, the United States publicly announced their 20 billion dollar space program, Project... ...s. By viewing the Earth as a whole, we discovered truths about humanity that sparked a new perspective of thought and understanding for our generation and the generations to come. "We touched the face of another world, and became people without limits" (Chaikin ix). Works Cited Chaikin, Andrew. A Man on the Moon: The Voyages of the Apollo Astronauts. Poseidon :: essays research papers

Poseidon is a god of many names. He is most famous as the god of the sea. The son of Cronus and Rhea, Poseidon is one of six siblings who eventually "divided the power of the world." His brothers and sisters include: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Zeus. The division of the universe involved him and his brothers, Zeus and Hades. Poseidon became ruler of the sea, Zeus ruled the sky, and Hades got the underworld. The other divinities attributed to Poseidon involve the god of earthquakes and the god of horses. The symbols associated with Poseidon include: dolphins, tridents, and three-pronged fish spears. Poseidon was relied upon by sailors for a safe voyage on the sea. Many men drowned horses in sacrifice of his honor. He lived on the ocean floor in a palace made of coral and gems, and drove a chariot pulled by horses. However, Poseidon was a very moody divinity, and his temperament could sometimes result in violence. When he was in a good mood, Poseidon created new lands in the water and a calm sea. In contrast, when he was in a bad mood, Poseidon would strike the ground with a trident and cause unruly springs and earthquakes, ship wrecks, and drownings. Poseidon was similar to his brother Zeus in exerting his power on women and in objectifying masculinity. He had many love affairs and fathered numerous children. Poseidon once married a Nereid, Amphitrite, and produced Triton who was half-human and half-fish. He also impregnated the Gorgon Medusa to conceive Chrysaor and Pegasus, the flying horse. The rape of Aethra by Poseidon resulted in the birth of Theseus; and he turned Caeneus into a man, at her request, after raping her. Another rape involved Amymone when she tried to escape from a satyr and Poseidon saved her. Other offspring of Poseidon include: Eumolpus, the Giant Sinis, Polyphemus, Orion, King Amycus, Proteus, Agenor and Belus from Europa, Pelias, and the King of Egypt, Busiris. One of the most notorious love affairs of Poseidon involves his sister, Demeter. Poseidon pursued Demeter and to avoid him she turned herself into a mare. In his lust for her, Poseidon transformed himself into a stallion and captured her. Their procreation resulted in a horse, Arion. Poseidon is Greek for "Husband" (possibly of wheat), and therefore it is thought that he and Demeter (goddess of wheat) are a good match because they reign as the god and goddess of fertility.

A belief is knowledge if it coheres with other accepted beliefs Essay

Explain and illustrate one criticism of the view that a belief is knowledge if it coheres with other accepted beliefs Coherentism is the Philosophical idea that truths should not be looked at individually. They should rather be looked at, as a whole. The coherence theory can be put into two parts. These are the coherent theory of truth and the coherent theory of justification. The coherent theory is that truth is different to justified belief. Truth is infallible. It is, what it is, that being correct. Whether it is contingent truth, which may, or may not, be true at a certain time; or a universal truth, which is taken to be always true, everywhere. In contrast the theory of justification, only involves beliefs; although these beliefs have to be coherent when looked at together as a whole. As an example of this, we can look at the example of my Aunt Dotty. An envelope comes to my House. However, there is no letter inside of it. I come to the conclusion that the only person absent-minded enough to forget to put the letter inside the envelope is my Aunt Dotty. However, she lives in Exeter; when looking at the postmark, I see it comes from Edinburgh; also the handwriting on the envelope is not that of my Aunt Dotty. My theory that the envelope came from my Aunt Dotty, who just forgot to put in the letter does not cohere. The separate beliefs do not seem to form together in a coherent way. However, I also remember that my brother was taking my Aunt Dotty to Edinburgh. Furthermore, the writing on the envelope seems to be that of my brother. From this I come to the conclusion that my Aunt Dotty forgot to put the letter in the envelope, and then asked my brother to write the address for her. I would be justified in my son you’re a whale belief of this, as all of my beliefs relating to it fit together in a coherent way. However, that is not to say that my coherent belief is the truth. It may not be the truth. It is just a justified belief. This theory of coherent beliefs perceived and regarded as a whole is called holism. Coherentism dictates that if we want the greatest understanding of what could be considered to be the real world possible, then our beliefs need to be as comprehensive as possible. Furthermore, for Coherentism to work successfully, our beliefs must be non-contradictory and consistent. In traditional Coherentism it is not the set that is justified, but rather the beliefs that make them up. It is from this that the most common flaw, with Coherentism is found. There may not be just one set of justifiable beliefs, relating to a certain number of beliefs. There can be multiple sets. Furthermore, internally all of these beliefs may be individually coherent. One example of this is the science fiction film. In such a film there can be many coherent worlds. However, these worlds are far from the reality of the perceived real world. The problem with the theory of coherence is that if we can only take one thing to be true – as if there were more than one they would undoubtedly we contradictory – it then follows that only one thing can be completely justified as being adequate to believe. In contrast in Coherentism, there can apparently be many sets of justified beliefs. In response, Coherentists argue that there can only be one coherent set. F.H. Bradley, the noted Coherentist, writes: ‘My object is to have a world as comprehensive and coherent as possible, and, in order to attain this object, I have not only to reflect but to perpetually have to recourse to the materials of sense. I must go to this source both to verify the matter which is old and also to increase it by what is new. And in this way I must depend upon the judgements of perception.’ This shows that it is Bradley’s aim to find the most coherent and therefore, hopefully, the only truly coherent set. Richard Wollheim late goes on to say that Bradley thought that Coherence should be a test of justification, rather that a test of any individual belief. Although, only ‘those that have some initial inclination or motive to believe in,’ so as a result of this coherence has the ‘function†¦ to discriminate within those judgements and to eliminate some in favour of others’. In line with Bradley’s defence of Coherentism is that of Jonathan Dancy. He says ‘in general, if we find ourselves scrutinising something we believe, we retain it unless we find something against it, just on the grounds that it is a belief already’. So, if we take Bradley’s response, together with that of Dancy, we are shown that Coherentists do not intend for there to be multiple sets of coherent beliefs, as a result of the coherent theory. Rather, Coherentism is intended as a means of testing existing beliefs, as well as those that can be later added. Donald Davidson, another noted Coherentist, also attempted to defend Coherentism. To do so, he gave as an example, the case of the Radical Interpreter. Imagine that there is a speaker of English, who comes across a group of people speaking a language that no one outside of that group understands. The language is called L. How can our speaker of English, the Radical Interpreter, be able to understand L. Davidson’s answer is that he will have to use what is called the Principle of Charity. The Principle of Charity dictates that the Radical Interpreter will have to assume that what the speakers of L say are true. That is to say, true by the standard of the Radical Interpreter. The speakers of L and the Radical Interpreter have to share the same standards of truth in order to have something in common. If this were not the case, it would be difficult for the Radical Interpreter and speakers of L to see where they disagree. Although, even if they do share the same standards of truth, they may, however both be wrong. The question then arises of what guarantee the Radical Interpreter has, that his and the speakers of L’s standards are not mistaken. Davidson gives the answer to imagine an interpreter to our Radical Interpreter. This interpreter is the Omniscient Interpreter. If the Omniscient Interpreter is to successfully interpret our Radical Interpreter, then he must use the same standards of truth used by our Radical Interpreter and the speakers of L. So the Omniscient Interpreter, like our Radical Interpreter, will have to assume that they use the same standards of truth. However, because the Omniscient Interpreter knows everything, it must follow that his standard of truth is true. Therefore, it follows that if the standards of truth used are roughly common to all parties, then neither the Radical Interpreter nor the speakers of L can be completely mistaken. As a result of this, our interpreter can assume that the majority of his basic beliefs are justified, as are those of the speakers of L. It then follows that there can be no place to believe that there can be more than one set of coherent Beliefs. From this, Davidson believes the Coherentist can dismiss the argument against him. It seems that in the previous defences of Coherentism, the Coherentists have adapted there argument, to suit the criticism of those attempting to undermine it. That is to say, that they are adapting the argument to suit the focus of the criticism. For example, when criticised that Coherentism allows for multiple sets of belief, Bradley, showed that the aim is to have only the most coherent belief. This may show the simple sophistication of the argument. It allows for only the most coherent argument and therefore the most likely to be the truth, to be accepted. Rather, the Coherentist would normally only accept the most coherent argument, rather than the least. To give an example of this; say I woke up one morning. My window was smashed and my television was gone. One set of coherent beliefs is that I have been burgled and my television stolen. My Dad has gone, so he may be contacting the Police. Another set of coherent beliefs, may be that my dad has lost his mind and jumped out of the window with the television. One of these beliefs is more coherent that the other. My father has not history of mental illness, so I can suppose that we have been burgled. Although, both sets are coherent, one is more coherent than the other, so I accept the most coherent as my Belief.

It is undoable to measure at this cast how cloud computer science and the development of the construct of omnipresent calculating would involve the country of instruction, but there is no uncertainty that many of these engineerings have the ascendency to significantly better the quality of zeal and overall pupils instruction. At the equivalent groom, yet, scorn of the monolithic positive affect, in rough instances, the usage of the information engineering has no consequence, and in rare instances, such usage has a prejudicious consequence.Concept of the information society, which includes instruction, gained merchandiseant encouragement in the previous(predicate) 90-ies and was taken earnestly by the authoritiess of the highly- substantial states. Albeit the construct is non new, and was fore intimately introduced by Fritz Machlup in 1973, in his book The production and distribution of cognition in the United States , which suggested that the information society is the highest phase of social development. collateral and proscribe facets of computerized instructionIt may look that the usage of ICT is ever warranted in all countries of educational activities. Surely, in many instances it is. However, it has a radiation pattern of prohibit facets. Positive and negative factors of ICT should be taken into history by educators.Pr ofessionals arebettering methods and techniques of choosing and take on out the meat educational stuff submission and development of new specialized subjects and Fieldss of survey associated with the information sciences and information engineeringalterations in instruction of the traditional school radicalsbettering instruction of students by increasing their degree of individualisation and distinction presentment of new signifiers of interaction into the acquisition procedure that changes the subject and nature of the instructor and student kincreates tools helping in optimization of the instruction directioncreates and supports the integrating tendency of capable countries and the environment,Allows high degree of customization.Raises degree of activity of the pupil develops the ability of alternate thought, constructing accomplishments to develop a scheme to happen solutionsAllows foretelling the consequences of determinations found on the simulation of the studied objec ts, phenomena, procedures and relationships between them.Cons areIn malice of the provable pros the usage of ICT can take to several negative effects. In peculiar, most oftentimes one of the benefits of ICT is referred to the individualised acquisition. However, along with the advantages there are similarly major defects associated with the inviolate individualisation. It limits to the minimal the un moving- vista showed interaction between instructors and students, students with each other and surrogates it with interaction with the computing machine. Due to restrictions of the current engineering the lone interface of this communicating is a keyboard sort of than address. The chief interface of the human bearing ability to talk gets shutdown. The deficiency of hard-nosed dialogic communicating shackles the development of the linguistic communication and overall affects negatively development of the thought procedure. Another pregnant drawback of this alternate relation ship is the curtailment of societal contacts, the decrease of societal interaction and communicating, individuality.Certain troubles and negative facets may originate from the usage of the ICT tools that provide instructors and pupils goodly flexibleness in happening and utilizing information. a great deal confusing and complicated methods of presentation may do the recreation of the students from the studied stuff due to assorted incompatibilities. Furthermore, the nonli approximately saying of information exposes the pupil to the enticement to succeed the suggested links that which can derail the intent of the exercising in its replete(p)ness. The usage of information resources published on the Internet, frequently leads to negative effects. Most frequently, the usage of ICT tools triggers plagiarism glow and paste of the readily available undertakings, essays, studies, research documents, etc. which does non heighten the effectivity of larning procedure.ICT tools can be non merely a decently tool for the formation and development of kids but conversely, advance a standard form of thought and inert attitude to work. In many instances, the usage of ICT and lively browse handiness of informations deprives and prevents pupils from behavior existent experiments by their ain custodies, which adversely affects the acquisition. And last but non least, the wellness facet of students must be taken into the most serious love as the excessive of ICT equipment could negatively impact the wellness of a kid. Methods of ICT application in the instruction procedureICT tools can be utilise as a mean of support in the traditional methods of instruction. In this instance, ICT enhances the set procedure, provides a locale for certain degree of customization of acquisition and allows for partial mechanization of usual work of instructors related to accounting, organisation and scaling. On the other manus, ICT could take to a forceful alteration of educational p rocedure, coercing the alteration of methods and signifiers of organisation of educational procedure. Induces the building of incorporate classs ground on the usage of information content in each school subjects. The demand for specific cognition which is either non available in a individual person topic, i.e. interdisciplinary cognition is postulate or there is a demand for a deep dive research a demand to research a figure of constructs, theories and Torahs that can non be obtained in a standard instruction. The demand for the generative abilities. A demand to fix for the quiz which has clip restriction. The demand for originative thought. Development of the optimisation accomplishments. Most cost-efficient solutions or the most optimum discrepancy of procedureThe demand to develop trim individualized qualities. establishment of pupils sense of duty towards others, towards themselves. All of the above grounds and factors suggest that the usage of ICT tools in learning pupils on a bigger is better rule may non take to seeable betterment in the dexterity of instruction. ICT usage requires a balanced and well-reasoned attack.Information confederation and ICTUsing the sum of cognition as a standard it was determined that the sum of human accumulated cognition is skyrocketing and is duplicating 3 every 5 old ages since 1970.Beginning University of Stellenbosch The MIKM and the Revolution of the familiarity Economy Using this figure as the sum of accrue human cognition as a standard for presenting the public position of the information society is justified, because harmonizing to many estimations, since the beginning of our epoch, the inaugural doubling of the accrued cognition of world took topographic point in 1750, the 2nd the beginning of the twentieth century, the 3rd already by 1950 twelvemonth. Since 1950, the entire sum of cognition in the universe doubles every 10 old ages, since 1970 every 5 old ages. The history of the information society contains the history of the beginning and development of new types of human activities associated with computing machines. Such growing resulted in an ocular opinion of a specialised group of people employed entirely in the information industry ( operators, coders, system analysts, inside decorators, etc. ) . Obviously, the leg of new scientific and professional countries requires specialised education with non merely the specialised content but besides peculiar methods and agencies of instruction. Therefore it is non a happenstance that computing machine based instruction achieves two strategic aims. It improves the efficiency of all types of educational activities through the usage of ICT and improves quality of developing through a new type of believing the relevant demands of the Information Society. The computer-based instruction is an built-in portion of the information society. The passage of modern society to an information epoch of its development progresss as one of t he major challenges confronting instruction, the undertaking of organizing the foundations of an information civilization of the hereafter specializers. Society s demand for skilled forces possessing a necessary skillset becomes a prima factor in educational policy. Today, it is virtually impossible to happen a school which would non hold ICT implemented in some signifier. In today s universe everything is interconnected. It is obvious that computer-based instruction and information society development are closely linked, invariably impacting each other. Here are several of these countries of convergencealterations in content and maps of instruction, signifiers and methods of instruction activitiespositive impact of ICT tools and information on the development of originative abilitieseducational impact of information engineeringthe showtime of the possibility of utilizing multimedia engineerings in instructionfurther development of go oning instruction in the information societyDev elopment and widespread usage of electronic theoretic accounts of larningthe constitution of developmental instruction based on the information resources of societya combination of traditional and advanced shipway of larning in the information societyformation of information civilization of instructors to work in all signifiers of educational procedure coevals of new attacks to the direction of the establishment and measurement the quality of instructor work globalisation and integrating of educational services in the information societyInformation engineering in school instructionTypes of audio-visual and proficient equipment employ in instruction. The accept of ICT did non go on overnight and was preceded by a rapid development of assorted non-computer devices known as proficient and audio-visual supplying AIDSs. For the drawn-out period of clip, proficient agencies of preparation were attributed merely to the hardware slide and exact projectors, telecasting sets, taping rec ording equipments and CD-players, every bit good as oddly designed instruction stuffs and AIDSs such as filmstrips, cassettes and compact phonograph record. These learning tools at different phases of development of the instruction system were the chief tools for bettering the efficiency of storage, bear on, transmittal and presentation of educational information. In the absence of computing machine equipment they have played the function of information and communicating engineerings.A ampere-second old ages ago, with Thomas Edison innovation of record player, the first embodiment of ICT was born. A that clip with the coming of the ability to record, shop and playback sound all the jobs of instruction were seen to be work today of class, it is obvious that non all such jobs have been solved wholly.Throughout the last century a assortment of instruction tools were introduced each clip ensuing in more advanced informational support system of the acquisition procedure, which in b end a positively impacted the effectivity of learning. At present, any educational establishment possesses a subset or a full set of the followerssound recording and playback ( tape, CD-players ) persona/data passage systems ( telephone, facsimile, teletype machines, wireless communicating systems )video/radio broadcast intermediate equipment ( telecasting, wireless, educational telecasting and wireless, DVD-players )optical and photographic equipment ( cameras, slide projectors, knock projectors )Printing, copying, scanning and other equipment designed for certification and reproduction of information ( duplicators, microfilm, microfiche )computing machine installations apply for the electronic entry, processing and storage of information ( computing machines, pressmans, scanners )telecommunications systems for the transportation of information through communications ( modems, web wire, orbiter, fiber optics, microwave and other communicating channels )Analogue EquipmentAudio t ape recording equipments, mikes, amplifiers, talkers, recording equipments, wirelesss, linguistic communication equipment, tapes, records )Graphic and photographic tools cameras, slide projectors, overhead projectors, filmstrips, slides, images on the tapesProjection equipment cameras, projectors, moviesMovies and Television installations TVs, monitor lizards, cameras, camc formats, VCRs, get word participants, picture projectors, video tapes ) .Digital equipmentAudio digital voice recording equipments and participants, digital tamp down disc read-only memoryGraphic and photographic tools digital cameras, optical maser and magnetic discs, storage memory bill posterProjection Technology multimedia projectorsMovies and Television installations digital picture recording equipments, DVD-players and DVD-players, optical maser and magnetic discs, electronic memory card ) computer tools Computer multimedia tools to enter, procedure and playback sound, entering processing and vi sual image of text, artworks and photographic installations entering, processing and playback. With the coming of the cyberspace the computing machine serves as a basis of the ICT and enables a figure of characteristics which were unavailable in non-internetworked universe telecommunication between people, existent clip coaction and existent clip admittance to information resources. Computer engineering gives alone chance to unite different engineerings and different agencies such as sound, text, exposure and picture into one cohesive locale of bringing. However, debut of computing machine engineering brings an provoke point. At first glimpse, it would be lawful to include other engineerings and tools of relevancy to the processing and presentation of information use in instruction. However, at the same clip, the catholicity of the computing machine brings the educational engineering to the whole new degree and inquiries the use of all non-computer based tools with the riddance of the book possibly, as they are losing relevancy. Today, for obvious grounds, it is practically impossible to happen a modern educational film-strip or phonographic discs. As such, the execution of computerized instruction will take to increased usage in of advanced information and communicating engineerings. Therefore, our research was concentrated on all facets on the ICT computing machine hardware and package, every bit good as their practical content.HardwareComputers and devices, normally referred to as hardware, is a platform of any ICT system and should be carefully selected with the thought of being portion of the educational procedure behind. Despite its unor chance uponnted young person, computing machines have a reasonably rich history. The thought of automatizing computations which gave try to the creative activity of the first computer science devices is non new and has been entertained for a long clip. The first operational summing machine was built in 1642, Blaise Pascal, a Gallic physicist, mathematician and applied scientist. Despite the fact that the initial computations were performed by mechanical devices and tools, such devices can still be considered as tools of information processing and, accordingly, the predecessors of the computing machines used in assorted Fieldss of human activities, including instruction. Even four decennaries ago the calculation was widely through by mechanical reckoners, and electro-mechanical proto-computers. However, because of its massiveness, trouble of usage, high cost, low-speed of information processing and a figure of other grounds a computing machine could non happen a fit application in the field of instruction at that clip. A rare exclusion is higher instruction, the handiness of computing machines in which justified the demand for preparation in a figure of professions such as computing machine scientific discipline.Furthermore, instructors and pupils work normally with one computing machine. It is in these universities sprung up first experience of computerized instruction. However, the existent large-scale debut of computing machines into all educational activities took topographic point in the early 80-ies of the last century own(prenominal) computers stressed the word personal i.e. one computing machine one individual attack its concentration, velocity, comparatively low cost, handiness of a big figure of devices that blossom forth the capablenesss of personal computing machines, all that contributed to the rise of own(prenominal) computer in every aspect of our lives, including instruction. The chief way of ad hominem computer development was on spread outing capacity to treat information. Gradually, the hardware evolved and allowed people to make, shop, procedure and transmit text, artworks, exposures and picture cartridge holders and sound. Due to its versatility personal computing machines provide maximal sum of benefits for instruction intents. Most of the i nstructors and pupils are working with personal computing machines available in every school. Through personal computing machines held notional lessons and practical exercisings, measured the degree of cognition, and conducted research, distributed work load, and planned extra-curricular activities, carried out educational undertakings and self-cultivation activities. In this respect, computing machine hardware is, by definition, an built-in portion of the ICT tools used in instruction, it is of import to consider the features of face-to-face computers and other hardware devices available on the market today.Regardless of the trade name, divinatory account, clip of creative activity and the application of all personal computing machines have common cardinal characteristics such as person-to-person computer is personal one-to-one relationship.Ability to procedure, storage, present and transmit assorted types of informations, including text, numerical informations, artworks, sou nd, picture, etc.Ability to unvaried communicate with the user in a linguistic communication near to subjectiveAbility to add assorted hardware devices that significantly expand capablenesss of a Personal computerInternetwork connectivityRecently with the coming of the note- and net-books the characteristic of mobility got high congratulationss in concurrence with the development in the nomadic broadband connectivity enable people to utilize these Personal computers disregarding of their location. The method of human interaction with a computing machine and type the needed package depends on the computing machine hardware platform. This construct includes a set of characteristics of the computing machine, the built-in trade name and maker s specific hardware. cardinal such platforms traditionally prevail in the country of instruction. In 1976 the first computing machine Apple mac was developed by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs. Creation of such computing machines on the monolithi c graduated remit was the chief drift to the formation of Personal computer fabrication industry. In 1981 the first personal computing machine by IBM has entered the market. IBM Personal computer and Apple Macintosh constructs are the most normally used in instruction. Regardless of the hardware platform personal computing machines have all the characteristics of import to better the preparation of pupils and can every bit be used to accomplish the ends of cybernation of instruction. There is nevertheless an issue of hardware compatibility and its inoperability, and this of import inquiry demands to be answered before any place is made for this or that platform. Very frequently the solution lies with the instructors and school governments. One of the most appropriate attacks to finding the adequateness of the computing machines hardware is to see and measure the necessary capablenesss of the hardware/software/content and their interoperability at the planning phase so they fit t o aims under specified fortunes. The most advanced, originful and expensive computing machines may non ever be a demand for ICT planning. To accomplish effectual larning it is frequently capable to utilize older, less advanced Personal computers. In the same item, replacing them with the latest suppositious accounts does non impact the effectivity of learning pupils dramatically. To find the adequateness of hardware, evidently, there must be a valid characteristics comparison prosodies with the demands oblige by the package. In this respect, it is of import to make love what the specifications of computing machines are available to instructors. in brief based on the Personal computer model the parametric quantities include but non limited toComputer public presentation ( CPU clock velocity ) bone marrow of RAMHard disc countlessCD/DVD ROM whetVideo Card ( type and sum of memory card, type, size and declaration of the proctor )Computer Audio ( sound card type, the type of talke r, a mike )Network cardModemWireless ( Wi-Fi, Bluetooth )Printer ( computer peripheral )Scanner ( skirting(prenominal) )It should be noted that in finding the above parametric quantities important consideration should be given to the type of the operating system, every bit good as ability to memory access to local and global telecommunications webs. The visual aspect of any new peripheral devices in the school typically provides new chances for instructors and pupils. For illustration, the outgrowth of digital computing machine based projection opens new possibilities doing them more graphic and entertaining that in return facilitates the socialization of educational stuff. Clearly, these and other characteristics introduced into instruction by peripherals and personal computing machines, enhance motor(prenominal) for acquisition, increase the objectiveness of the rating of larning results and advance self-cultivation, extracurricular and research activities meanwhile signific antly simplifying professional activities of instructors and school disposal. Additionally, progressively the specialised peripheral devices that relate to specific topics of educational stuff are being used. These devices are digital electronic microscopes used in learning biological science, digital ohmmeter, voltmeters and ammeters used in the survey of natural philosophies, planetary placement device ( GPS ) , used for field trips in local history lessons. along with positive facets, there are nevertheless some negative effects caused, chiefly, by the negative impact on wellness and psychological status of pupils and instructors. The limitations and recommendations for the hardware use in educational stuff vary well depending on the age. Thus it is of import to observe that the usage of computing machines in primary schools should be governed by the administer organic structure of the authorities which should come up with the regulations and ordinances regulating the safe usage of appropriate equipment in schools.ICT and instructors facets of the computer-assisted instruction. At present clip the measure of both, hardware and package, available at any given school is near to the impregnation point, at which the significant addition in calculating power does non accompany in relevant end product in quality of instruction. As such, it becomes patent and pressing that the equipment halt playing a prima function and the scheme of the practical execution becomes paramount. Acerate leaf to state that the effectual usage of ICT is impossible without instructors ability to use such tools to their full extent in peculiar, instructors must cognize where and how to happen the needed class stuffs in telecommunication webs, able to utilize such webs in assorted facets of acquisition, cognize how to show the content of academic topics through multimedia engineerings, how to use multimedia acquisition. The interview research conducted by the group has revealed a figu re of facets related to these demandspreparation in engineering of computer-based instruction is portion of the educational contentICT used in instruction is simply a tool for work outing jobs, its usage should non go an terminal endusage of computer-assisted larning extends the human head and addresses the educational and professional endsTraining in working with the ICT is one of the methods of puting a mentality of information society. With of all time deeper engagement of the ICT in instruction procedure, the civilization of preparation and the instructor s function in the acquisition procedure is altering. With a bigger accent on self-cultivation the function of teacher becomes more consultative and remedial than of all time before. The skillset required is besides broadens from silo of a general topic to more inter-disciplinary set of topics. importantly increases the demands for personal, cultural and communicative qualities of the instructor. It is besides becomes observable that, unluckily, computer-based preparation plans are created by package applied scientists without any input from the experts in the field of psychological science, educations, content and learning techniques. Furthermore, it is besides good known fact that pedagogues with extended experience, as a norm, are non thirstily by-line the new ICT based methods and, by virtuousness of conservative thought, non ever understanding their significance. These instructors have a important psychological barrier towards the computing machine engineering and package based information resources, which is normally masked by uncertainties more or less their pedagogic pertinence in educational procedure. Sometimes, nevertheless, such underestimate is due to apparent(prenominal) familiarity with rules and procedures of the computer-assisted instruction. In footings of computer-assisted instruction, all instructors could be dual-lane into two chief classs teachers-users of ready-to-use ICT installa tions and teachers-developers of pedagogical tools and techniques. The instructor must get the hang prefatorial computing machine accomplishments, have a current overview of the most common package bundles, able to work with word processors, discharge sheets, any well-known specialised preparation plans, and able to get the hang the telecommunication interaction with co-workers and pupils every bit good as freely navigate the planetary online beginnings of information. Training of the instructors, who themselves engaged in developing of the electronic information resources, should be equal to the degree of developing given to power users or even package applied scientists in some instances this is indispensable for the proper degree of ICT tools comprehension and rational design of the ICT construction. For instructors involved into development it is highly of import to understand and run in country of convergence between the design and the usage of ICT and rule of instruction a nd psychological science. The exemplar scenario would be a originative pudding stone of squad members that possess system and application development accomplishments, psychological science, teaching method, design and ergonomic.Due to the fact that electronic information resources become in this instance non merely educational stuff, but besides a piece of package, the content of the class needs to be restructured consequently. Therefore, in order to make an ICT a thorough discernment of structural and holistic position of the educational stuff is a must. Teachers are actively engaged in the development and usage of ICT tools must hold a sufficient degree of preparedness. This means that instructors must get the hang the accomplishments of the user, have a general thought about package capablenesss and be experts in the field of a peculiar subject.Requirements for the instructor, utilizing ICT tools consist of the traditional demands for any educator, but besides need to stress the ability to utilize information engineering and practical facets of ICT.The traditional demands includeOrganizational ( work planning, ability to drive involvement in larning, etc. )Educational ( ability to occupy and fix convincing and consistent preparation stuff, etc. )perceptual ( ability to understand a pupil and tailor educational stuff towards the demands and involvements of a student )Communication ( the ability to set up an advantageous relationship with students, their parents, co-workers, schoolmasters, etc. )research ( ability to understand and objectively measure jobs and procedures )scientific ( ability to absorb needful cognition of a peculiar topic )topic ( professional cognition )The ICT transforms and imposes extra demands on the traditional skillset. For case instructor becomes less dependent on the traditional pedagogical technique, particularly in non-verbal agencies of communicating. However, in malice of the widespread use of resources information engine ering, the primary map of instructors direction of the acquisition procedures and development of schoolchildren must stay. Methods of developing instructors in ICTUse of ICT positively influences instructors productiveness and increases effectivity of students larning. At the same clip, albeit the overwhelmingly impact of ICT use, in some instances it has no consequence and even may ensue in a negative impact. Obviously, the ICT preparation demands to be well-structured and integrated on the footing of the best-practices attack and must be a portion of the course of study for the pupils prosecuting grade in instruction. The chief ends of ICT preparation areFamiliarization with the positive and negative facets of utilizing ICT in instruction.Definition of function and topographic point of ICT in the information society.Establishing a position of the species composing and countries of effectual usage of educational engineerings for making, processing, presentation, storage and transmi ttal of information.Familiarization with best patterns, techniques and methods of ICT use in educational procedure, monitoring and meter of larning result.Developing an ICT centric skillset and cognition, basic rules and methods of touchstone ICT tools quality.Developing a sustainable motive enabling instructor to take part in formation and execution of ICT environment. pop the question teachers a farther chance to spring up the students function and topographic point of ICT in the modern society. The overall success of the ICT use can be assessed based on the demands of the educational procedure. There several such demandsRequirements associated with the creative activity of cognition which is interdisciplinary in nature. The demand of the pupils to get the hang the analysis, i.e. state of affairss affecting computations, look intoing and treating the consequences of computations every bit good as development of the generic accomplishments in each subject ( categorization, analys is and synthesis, ability to plan an experiment, stash and analyse informations gathered ) .The demand to develop pupils originative accomplishments. Such demands arise in work outing optimisation jobs with a figure of possible results the most rational pick of the most cost-efficient solutions. The demands related to the demand of developing certain personal qualities of moral and societal ( duties towards society, themselves, towards each other ) nature. The instructor s duty lies with optimisation of the ICT use profiting the most from the engineering can offer and minimising possible negative facets associated with the work of students with huge unfiltered information available electronically. The content of instructors ICT preparation should be included the following cardinal constituentsICT and its usage in instruction. Positive and negative facets of computer-assisted instruction. The feasibleness and effectivity of the ICT. cybernation of instruction and its portion in the information society.Types of audio-visual and proficient equipment used in instruction. Computers and their types. Peripheral equipment. Technology and multimedia. Telecommunication installations used in instruction.Storage and presentation of information. Information modeling. Methods of informations transportation. Computer networks as agencies of acquisition.ICT and its function in the acquisition procedure. Methods for measuring the quality of ICT tools. ICT use in schoolroom and in distance acquisition. Customization of larning procedure. overtop and appraisal of the acquisition results. Computerization of extracurricular activities. Computerization of research methods.Computerization of organisational and managerial maps of educational procedure. Information engineering and work with parents. In decision, it should be noted that instructors must non merely possess cognition in ICT tool, techniques and engineerings but besides be experts on the application of these new engineer ings in their professional activities. In this undertaking the squad did non put a end of covering all issues related to the usage of information and communicating engineerings. Furthermore, many facets of ICT usage in instruction are still undiscovered and use up further survey. At the same clip, the content of the research attempted to measure the chief elements and characteristics of debut and use of ICT, electronic informations and educational resources, evaluate demands needed to measure the quality of ICT tools, classified ICT tools and reviewed methods of carry oning the ICT enabled categories, depicting the advantages of utilizing such tools outside of the schoolroom and touched on facets of computerized direction of educational establishments. The research besides revealed that the greatest efficiency of the educational procedure utilizing educational ICT tools is achieved so these tools fulfil the demands of instruction identified in our paper.
